Circle Montreal's First Meetup: Here's How It Went
Circle Montreal had its very first in-person meetup, and honestly? We served. 💁♀️
A few weeks ago, Squarespace reached out and asked me to lead the Montreal chapter of Circle. For anyone who knows how deep I am into this platform (I'm a Squarespace Marketplace Expert, Circle Platinum Partner, Community Leader…), Squarespace is a big part of how I work and who I am professionally. Being asked to bring that community to life here in Montreal felt like a full-circle moment(pun very much intended). It's the kind of thing that doesn't just feel like a new title. It feels like a direction. The kind of work I want to keep doing, and the kind of presence I want to build in this city as a Squarespace professional.
How Circle Montreal's first meetup went
We met at Bah! Café in the Plateau. Great turnaround, great energy. Designers, freelancers, photographers, business owners, and Squarespace people from around the city — some familiar faces, and some I had never crossed paths before. Which made it extra awesome! We talked client work, project challenges, how we each run our businesses, and yes, Squarespace.
One topic that came up was how eager we were for Stacks to come out. Funny enough, Squarespace released it in Circle beta two days later. 😅 If you haven't tried it yet, it's a flex-style container inside Fluid Engine that gives you way more control over responsive layouts. The kind of thing that's genuinely exciting to talk through with people who are already in the weeds on it. That's what this room was.
What stood out most was how quickly it felt like a real community. No slides, no agenda, no weird icebreakers. Just creative people in the same field, finally in the same room, having conversations, and eating pão de queijo and coxinha. I was genuinely so happy with how everything went. (Proud parent moment incoming: Picture me smiling, standing in the corner of the room, Tom Jobim vinyl playing in the background, watching everyone laugh and talk Squarespace. 🥹)
Who is Circle Montreal for?
Honestly, more people than you might think. If you build, manage, or work on Squarespace sites, you belong here. That includes web designers and developers, yes, but also photographers, creative studios, and business owners who run their own sites. Montreal has a deep creative scene, and a lot of those people are already working with Squarespace. This is the community that connects them.
The only requirement is a free Circle membership. That's it.
What's next?
The first meetup showed me that there's something real here worth exploring. So we're doing it. The next Circle Montreal meetup is already in the works, and this one is going to have something extra, something very unique that a lot of you will genuinely want to be there for. Details coming soon.
We also have a WhatsApp group where the conversation keeps going between meetups. Join us there. I promise we're mildly fun.
Follow along so you don't miss the next one, and join Circle Montreal to hear about it first.
